Flowing fluids in contact with non-smooth, porous and soft surfaces are not only ubiquitous in nature but also lie at the heart of engineering applications. While our research is driven by curiosity, our ambition is to transfer our results to innovations that will benefit both society and industry.
We use mathematical modeling, numerical simulations and experiments to uncover fundamental physiochemical mechanisms of fluids and surfaces. We want to use this understanding to develop new ways of sensing and manipulating fluids to reduce energy consumption in existing industrial process and thus also contribute to reaching UN’s Millennium Development Goals.
