We are very happy to receive funding from European Research Council (ERC) Consolidator 2023 program. The project: LUBFLOW (Lubricant-infused surfaces in sUrfactant- and Bacteria-laden turbulent FLOWs) will establish the physics of liquid-infused surfaces in flow environments that contain turbulence, surfactants, and bacteria. The project builds upon the work carried out by past and current group members and collaborations with colleagues. In the coming months will announce a number of open positions!

Shervin part of WISE faculty
We are happy to be on board WISE (Wallenberg Initiative Materials Science for Sustainability, wise-materials.org). WISE, funded by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation, is the largest-ever investment in materials science in Sweden and will encompass major efforts at Sweden’s foremost universities over the course of 10 years. The vision is a sustainable future through materials science.
We look forward to contributing to this vision!
In early 2023, we will recruit one postdoctoral student to work in mass transfer of liquid-infused material. Stay tuned!
Open Postdoc position: Self-organized liquid-infused materials
This position has been filled!
We have an open postdoc position on investigating structured liquid-Infused Materials (LIMs) (Yasuga et al, Nature Phys, 17, 2021), which use a periodic solid scaffold to lock in liquid droplets.
The goal of this project is to evaluate the mass transfer capacity of LIMs. More information about the position and how to apply can be found here:

Open Postdoc position!
Open PhD position in direct numerical simulations of liquid-infused surfaces
We are looking for a doctoral student to study the interaction between liquid infused surfaces (see figure below) and flowing liquids using direct numerical simulations. The goal is to tailor the geometry and chemistry of LIS surfaces to control heat transfer and friction in a stable and efficient way.
Multifunctional surfaces will play an essential role in enhancing the energy efficiency of applications in transport and industry, and this project will accelerate the required technology.

Open postdoc position on transport in soft tissues
Together with Prof. Christian Gasser at KTH, we have a new postdoc position on developing computational models of transport in soft tissues in the presence of vascular network. Announcement can be found here. The models will be used to study vascularization conditions in the production of cerebral organoids. This is exciting that involves working and communicating with different disciplines.
Sangseung Lee starts as postdoc!
We have a new member in our group, Sangseung Lee! During his Phd in POSTECH, Sangseung made significant contribution on data-driven prediction of unsteady flows using deep learning. We are excited to further explore data-driven modeling of flow physics at KTH. Welcome Sangseung!
